Pop stars from Rihanna to Justin Bieber have converted the sound into chart-topping anthems, so it comes as no surprise that the genre’s resurgence has ushered in a spate of new artists. Spearheading the wave of newcomers is Hope Lovina, who takes notes from predecessor Stefflon Don, and the late R&B trailblazer Aaliyah, to emerge with a sound that’s familiar yet fresh.
