DEFINITION OF FRESH

“Sorry Not Sorry” is Joey Bada$$ ’s second release of January 2025, following “The Ruler’s Back” , which many perceived to be a diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar as well as the West Coast—Joey specifically interpolated a bar from JAY-Z ’s June 1996 track “22 Two’s” .  Before Kendrick could respond, several of his peers fired back; including battle rapper Daylyt with “Hiyu” and TDE -affiliate Ray Vaughn with “Crashout Heritage” . This is ostensibly a response to the tracks aimed back at Joey by rappers from the Golden State.  As with his previous entry, Joey enlists production from Conductor Williams ; this time, however, Conductor is joined by Everett, Washington native Mario Luciano and the video is directed & edited by Waqas Ghani .

Baltimore’s Rican Da Menace unleashes a new single and music video entitled “Fuc No”  via Out The Jungle / BuVision / Columbia Records . The track boasts an instantly recognizable sample of the turn-of-the-century classic “Let Me Love You” by R&B artist and fellow Baltimore native Mario .  Directed by Ben Marc , the cinematic visual instantly engages with a familiar story. Rican shuns an unworthy suitor played by Khaotic as the clip gives its own parody of the internet-breaking relationship drama between Summer Walker and Lil Meech .
