De La Soul went to NPR to celebrate a few milestones: its latest album, Cabin in the Sky , and year three of the De La Soul catalog back under the members' control. This Tiny Desk releases, which is known as De La Soul Day . It's all a bit bittersweet as David Jolicoeur (aka Trugoy the Dove , aka Plug Two ) isn't here with Pos and Maseo .  Dave passed away in 2023, just weeks before the group's music was finally made available on streaming platforms after a decades-long legal battle. Throughout the planning process for this show, both remaining members were candid about what Dave would and wouldn't approve of creatively, but remained open to ideas to honor him. The result was a thoughtful balance of classics like "Stakes is High" and "Breakadawn" with highlights from Cabin in the Sky .

Cabin In the Sky is De La Soul ’s ninth studio album. The sixth and penultimate album in Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It … campaign, this is the group’s first album since 2016’s and the Anonymous Nobody … as well as their first since the passing of group member Trugoy the Dove in February 2023. Production is handled by names such as DJ Premier , Pete Rock , Supa Dave West , and De La Soul themselves with features by Killer Mike , Yukimi of Little Dragon , Common , Nas , Black Thought , Q-Tip , Slick Rick , and more.

The legendary Amityville, NY rap group De La Soul share the 20th Anniversary Edition of their 2004 release "The Grind Date" . This re-issue features two new songs "Bigger" and "Respect" , as well as four instrumentals.

Released in March 1994, six months after their third album Buhloone Mindstate , Clear Lake Audiotorium is De La Soul ’s six-track promo EP featuring four tracks from Buhloone along with two new songs: “Stix & Stonz” –an homage to the old school posse cut featuring The Fearless Four , Grandmaster Caz , and Prince Whipper Whip –and “Sh.Fe.MC’s” featuring fellow Native Tongues crew members A Tribe Called Quest .

The “Buddy” remix, originally appearing as “Buddy (Native Tongue Decision)” , was released in 1989 on the 12" vinyl single release of  “Buddy” . It featured an entirely new beat (produced by Prince Paul ) and additional verses from A Tribe Called Quest , Monie Love , and Queen Latifah . Often noted as a perfect example of a “pure” remix – recalibrating both the lyrical and musical elements of the original song – this posse cut has been a long-revered favorite of De La Soul fans.
