Miami hip-hop veteran DJ Exes chefs up spectacular in new single “Criollo Vernacular” . As reflected in the accompanying video (Directed by Box-Lo ), Exes cooks up rhymes galore comparing his craft to a culinary master does in the kitchen. As he says “Salsa Criolla is a vibrant sauce used in a variety of dishes in Puerto Rican cuisine. Like the combination of tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, and garlic, this track is a mix of Spanish and English rhymes over the hard boom bap production of Slamming Gavel Music” .

Given the video treatment as well, the track observes the trio sharing a meal and strolling through the night life in their home turf of Miami, Florida. DJ Exes (emcee) gives props to his Puerto Rican homeland over the instrumental provided by group producer DJ Heron and multi-instrumentalist Nando .

“Like in the video, we take you on a ride mentally without you having to go anywhere physically. There are no samples in this song. It’s the same for the entire album. This is an introduction to that (our album). No artificial ingredients. Our brand of hip-hop is organic. The street is the ‘Calle’ and the Grupo is HNE.” DJ Exes (emcee) of Grupo HNE , the Miami based Spanglish boom-bap trio speaks on new single “Calle HNE” . Featuring a guest verse from fellow Miami resident Money Mogly this is an especially personal track. As the group's emcee DJ Exes reveals "the song is inspired by a picture of my mother that I walk by when I visit her. To me, the picture reminds me of rough times when I was younger. Even though the perception of those times was bad, my mother gave us a positive outlook, saying good times are around the corner" . In addition to DJ Exes (who serves at the group’s emcee) Grupo HNE is composed of Producer DJ Heron and multi-instrumentalist Nando (percussion, keyboards, vocals).

Video: Grupo HNE (DJ Heron, DJ Exes, Nando) - The Palmetto ft. Orion

Image
Spanglish Boom-Bap triumvirate Grupo HNE (pronounced Henny ) have dropped new visuals for recent single “The Palmetto” . Sub-titled “A musical ode to Miami’s traffic nightmare,” The Palmetto refers to State Route 826 , also known as The Palmetto Expressway . DJ Exes says of the track “was written from the perspective of the average Miamian on their way home after a 40-hour work week right into permanent gridlock and road chaos. It’s enough to drive any sane man mad!”   Directed by MrBeleaf and co-directed by Cuban emcee, Orion (who also appears on the track) the breezy easy jazz and uplifting instrumental contrasts with the bars of frustration and the video’s homage to 90’s classic cinema gem, Falling Down .
