Having recently featured in Netflix ’s top 10 series ‘ Geek Girl’ with their song ‘Bad’ , the new single brings similar St. Trinian ’s punk-girl attitude but buried deep within a haze of beats and pulsating electronics, which escalate into an infectious sweaty club banger for all the gamers and misfits who, like the band, also blend between genres.

It's an indulgent pop song unashamedly inspired by brazen noughties pop like Eminem , Britney Spears and even Ginuwine . However, anything 'pop' going through the Sohodolls mincer machine will always come out darker with unhinged synths, especially when it's produced by Grammy-nominated Dimitri Tikovoi ( Charli XCX , Black Honey , Becky Hill ) who also produced Sohodolls ' third biggest track 'Mayday' .

Sohodolls have a pounding slow-disco floor-filler ‘Napoleon Baby’ , inspired by the  Eurythmics ’ ‘Sweet Dreams’ , Kate Bush ’s ‘Running up that Hill’ and Donna Summers ’ ‘I Feel Love’ , the Otabek Salamov (aka Needshes ) produced track sees Sohodolls unleash a pop side that has been bubbling away in the background of their recent singles, but now comes fully to the forefront.

This song is about me imagining what being powerful feels like and what turbo-vengeance might look like after a series of betrayals by your lover, court and friends.” explains Von Doll . “I love medieval history. The stories of Anne Boleyn and her daughter Elizabeth are fascinating. They were both underdogs. Their intelligence was underestimated, and they both had their hearts messed with. I think everyone can relate to that” , she further explains. The track continues the recent Sohodolls resurgence, after their 00s single ‘Bang Bang Bang Bang’ became an unexpected viral TikTok hit among Gen Z glitterati when Madonna posted a recording of her daughter Estere Ciccone performing her own original choreography to the track. Brand new Sohodolls single ‘What Kinda Love’  was written by central songwriter Maya Von Doll when she was in a really bad place in her life and it seemed like her musical dreams were completely over. The track’s themes explore the feeling of your life slipping away and thinking the only place you’ll find excitement is in your daydreams. Starting with gritty fuzzed-up riffs, ‘What Kinda Love’ drops into classic dark Sohodolls pulsating synth-based infectiousness, with their trademark sumptuous and seductive goth tendencies wrapping the listener in a thick gloss that’s hard to escape from without being addicted to the track. Otabek Salamov (aka Needshes ) produced ‘What Kinda Love’ and Future Cut ( Lily Allen , Shakira , Rhianna) helped Maya Von Doll bring out the stomping hook in the track. It may also surprise some to know that 80s Billy Ocean track “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car” is also an inspiration behind the song!
