Interview: edger + d.o.f. + dunn deal promotions

“The epic quest to make them all fall” is how dance group Edger describes their new single “Panty Drop Dance”. The music video follows an animated character as he eats panties falling from the sky. An online video game allows you to control this character in his quest to eat as many panties as possible (play the Panty Drop Dance online video game). The video features the Mirrorpick, a hair pick and handheld mirror in one available now at mirrorpick.com.

What can you tell us about Edger?

So, unfortunately we can’t tell you about ourselves due to these legalities of our current situations.

What inspired the panty drop dance?

Hmm, we’re a little confused by this question. What DOESN’T inspire the Panty Drop Dance? A simple walk outside, a cup of coffee, a couple looks around the neighborhood, and we was like BAM -- Panty Drop Dance (PD). We didn’t see it... we knew we had to do it.

What’s your connection to the Mirrorpick?

We met some people from Earth Lion Entertainment one night in the East Village, had a little too much fun and got to talking about PD. They loved Panty Drop Dance and told us about their new MirrorPick product, and we knew we HAD to have it in the video. I mean, a mirror on an afro pick?!?! We’d be stupid not to include it - how are people gonna see them panties drop? (It’s all about that angle.)

How has the reaction to the song been?

Absolutely terrible -- worst reaction ever. I mean, who wants to see an animated character running around eating all those panties. Naaaah just kidding. The reaction has been great. I meannnn, who DOESN’T want to see an animated character running around eating all those panties - we did, that’s why we did it! When we came up with Panty Drop Dance, we were shocked to find out that a dance hadn’t been created for panty dropping. Trey Songz did a song about panty dropping, R Kelly has countless songs about panties - panty drop is even in the Urban Dictionary. The list goes on and on. We all know to panty drop is a born right and we just want to give people a dance to properly drop ‘em.

Is an album in the works?

It’s interesting, you hear the perspective from people like Bob Lefsetz, who say that in this much more fast-paced media consumption world that the album is dead. Who knows, maybe it is. For us, it’s all about putting out content that reflects our experiences, both as individuals and as a group, and I mean, who doesn’t like it when a girl takes her panties off and keeps her sneakers on (sneakers or not to be honest). Right now, we’re actually in discussions with a company in Japan about creating the sneaker designs from the PD video. We’ll be releasing our next song soon -- new beats, new dance, new animated video, plus Earth Lion Entertainment has another dope product coming out that will be premiering in our new video -- can’t get into the details on that just yet. Remember them legalities...
