Mental Notes is the latest EP from American rapper River Nelson . As the title suggests, the songs are River's latest thoughts on today’s world, the people in it, life, his art, and the things he’s experienced on his constant journey of trying to better himself. Producers on the project include OVL Lorde from Florida, AltoBeats from California — who’s released two critically acclaimed albums with River — and Shaan Angel from the UK. The lead single for the project was the inspirational Flying , which is about River’s unwavering ambition to elevate himself both as an artist and an individual, despite facing challenges.

"Me & Dad on the Docks" is the second single from River Nelson ’s upcoming EP, Mental Notes , produced by his longtime collaborator AltoBeats . This heartfelt track is a vivid and touching recollection of River’s childhood fishing trips with his father. Through descriptive storytelling, he not only brings these beachside memories to life, but also weaves in the invaluable life lessons his dad imparted to him during their time on the sea-battered docks. 'From Touch 2 Tackle' is the latest single to drop by River Nelson and AltoBeats , quickly following his critically acclaimed release 'The Mindfulness Remix' featuring Hip-Hop veteran Koncept , the boys are back! Amidst this new offering, River Nelson ’s lyrics intertwine the narrative of American Football to explain the vast and painful difference between one's carefree youth, and adulthood.. River Nelson said: "I just wanted to focus on how life can get harder for people as the years go by, and that transitioning into adulthood can sometimes feel like the difference between a game of touch and full contact. This jump becomes more aggressive, challenging, and can have much harsher consequences if done incorrectly” .

  The Mindfulness Remix is the current single by River Nelson and AltoBeats , which builds on the original Mindfulness , from their latest album We Should Escape . For the remix, the duo tapped ultra-respected New York City rapper Koncept . Both artists delve deeper into the topic of mindfulness, a common and much-used meditation practice.  “There was such a huge response to the original Mindfulness, Alto and I decided to add on to it,” says River Nelson . “We’re also crazy excited to bring Koncept on for the ride this time. With the remix, we not only want to reintroduce the original song to people, but open up the topic of mindfulness and mental health again. Plus, the track that Alto produced is so dope, I had to write over it one more time ” .  Lyrically, River Nelson and Koncept explain how they achieve mindfulness in their day-to-day life, and they do it with high-quality lyricism.
