The “Buddy” remix, originally appearing as “Buddy (Native Tongue Decision)”, was released in 1989 on the 12" vinyl single release of “Buddy”. It featured an entirely new beat (produced by Prince Paul) and additional verses from A Tribe Called Quest, Monie Love, and Queen Latifah. Often noted as a perfect example of a “pure” remix – recalibrating both the lyrical and musical elements of the original song – this posse cut has been a long-revered favorite of De La Soul fans.
