A couple of weeks ago an artist contacted me about performing at SXSW and mentioned that a promoter wanted to charge him $3,000 dollar to perform on a "guaranteed spot with an audience". My mind was instantly blown. I had heard the horror stories about paying to perform at festivals, but never had I heard a price soooo high.
